We've had 2 Korandos and we like them as they are very capable, well equipped and much cheaper than other SUV type vehicles.
Are you thinking of new or used cars? Both models have new versions available now so there are some good deals on the last of the old models. If you are buying a new car there is usually an offer for CAMC members of a free tow bar.
What is the MTPLM of your caravan? The Tivoli is lighter than the Korando and has a lower towing limit.
The Kuga and Sportage were the other cars we considered but for us the Korando was a better deal and comes with a very long warranty.
The Tivoli won't be up to towing that sort of weight. The Korando weighs at least 1750kg depending on the model, our 2017 ELX auto had a kerbweight of 1858kg.
The ELX is the top of the range model and comes with just about everything you can think of including sat nav, leather seats, 4 heated seats, heated steering wheel and reversing camera. Look out for a car with tow bar already fitted as it can be impossible to get an aftermarket tow bar to fit as most of the tow bars get fitted to new cars, we had the free tow bar offer and saved nearly £700.
I don't know how big your budget is but to give an idea of price we have just sold our 2017 ELX auto with 15500 on the clock, full dealer service history, tow bar and the balance of the manufacturers warranty and that retailed at £14000.
Quality of design is not Audi but I actually like the fact it isn't trying to be German, like everyone else.
Test drove the previous generation Korando and was very impressed but just a touch more than I could stretch to. Also didn't really need something the same size as a CRV.
Ssangyong are an under rated manufacturer that deserves to do better.
We have had 2 korandos bought first one brand new 2014 and were really pleased with it until 3 years old needed stuff not covered on warranty!! Costly to repair unfortunately this car was stolen Dec 17 nothing to do with make of car our keys were stolen from the house they took the car and wrote it off. We replaced with same model 2015 again it ran fine until about 2018 starting having problems brake calipers went and then radiator needed replaced cost us £1500 in 12 months and local garage could only buy parts through dealership which always took at least a week. Just couldn’t trust the car anymore so have just replaced with a Kuga. Korando is cheap to buy but parts are very expensive so I would be wary especially if buying second hand. Warranty not worth the paper it’s written on when you read into it. Kuga drives like a dream however we have bought a 2019 model so going to be better but build wise and road holding is a massive improvement. Just sharing our experience obviously others will think differently. Good luck with your search.
