All I can say is "thank goodness "
I had one as my last company car before I retired. Worse car I ever had! Everything that could rattle did and if it didn't rattle it fell off. Have never had another Ford since.

I had a 2006 2L TDCI hatch Mondeo for three years from 2006 to 2009. It was the best towcar I've ever had and was genuinely sorry when I had to change it. Towing a 1250kg Avondale in France Germany Belgium and Netherlands on the "motorways" I used to average 34 mpg. Worst car I had as a towcar was A 2L Cmax towing same unit on same roads MPG was around 28 and for me an uncomfortable car to drive
Had two over the years, amongst other things, both never missed a beat, and nicer to drive than some of their more expensive competitors, like the BMW 3 Series.
Time to go....Yes. But thank you Ford for a great car.
Agreed. Mondeo have been the best cars we have owned. We now have a 2l estate and clearly we have to keep this going for the rest of our days of towing. Comfortable, handles well, tows well, good economy and we can even get 2 electric bikes inside for safe transport. Once owned a VW golf, worst car ever and would never look at VW again.
Had mine from 2008 until October 2020 never had a major problem with it towed our caravan really well but decided time for a new car so now have a Volvo XC60
When i went to fords to look at this model they didn't have any in as it was a new shape, The salesman said why don't you have a look at the focus as loads of people were switching from mondeo's to ford focus's,
I remembered that conversation when i did the rat race coast to coast, Heading to scotland in my mondeo hatchback was
5 blokes
4 bikes
5 tents
5 sleeping bags
5 rucksacks with enough gear for 4 days including all the gear required for the race
5 lots of beer and food
i'm not saying the car was full but you couldn't fit a 13mm nut in the boot the idea was to swap seats on the way up to make sure everyone was comfortable, nobody bothered doing this as the car had plenty of rear seat room and was comfy.
great car including tow car, i had 3 from new + a S max for 4 years each the only fault outside serving was a fuse box in the 2011 one.
I'm sad to hear of their demise. I had a 2009 model for a few years and I loved it. I've owned Cortina's, Granada's, the Mondeo, and now I own a Focus and I can't say I've had a bad one yet which is more than I can say about some of the other stuff I've parted hard-earned cash for!
I wanted a Mondeo for a long time, couldnt afford one without either high mileage or age, finally got one, a basic Zetec but I was happy, a good solid car we bought an estate and towed a caravan. We changed the caravan which ment the Mondeo wasnt heavy enough so we had to swop to a Kuga. The demise is soon to be the way of most family cars, the Vauxhall Insignia has dropped the estate version.
The demise of the estate car is all down to the massive upsurge in popularity of the SUV, I must confess to being part of that. I would never go back to an estate/saloon/hatchback ever again.
