About to buy new car, looking at Nissan juke 1.5 diesel, have lunar cosmos 352 caravan. Max tow weight 1000kg, max tow for juke 1230kg. Torque higher than present car so so far so good. Kerb weight along with poor maths leaves me in a spin. Juke KW is 1305 so if I've done the calculations right, 85% = roughly 1105 so if my max tow weight fully laden is 1000kg the juke will match my caravan?
Cosmos 352 appears to be MTPLM: 975kg. This is the weight you should work to and is the maximum weight it can weigh when fully loaded.
Numbers for car appear to be
Kerb weight: 1285 kg
Un-braked Manufacturers towing capacity: 660 kg
Braked Manufacturers towing capacity: 1250 kg
85% of Kerb weight: 1092.25 kg
The caravan appears to be a 75% match to cars kerb weight so should be stable to tow.
The caravan MTPLM is comfortably less than the 1250kg car max tow weight so should be legal and well within its capability.
Just need to check if caravan MTPLM added to cars max authorised weight is less than 3500kg so you can tow this without the B+E licence. Should be OK though.
It appears that the towball noseweight allowance on the Nissan Juke is only 75 kgs. so you need to bear this in mind even if the car and caravan are a good percentage match. With a low towball weight limit you will need to use a noseweight gauge to get the caravan noseweight correct in order to make a stable outfit as well as the car and caravan match.

Thankyou for that. How can I find the cars max authorised weight?
To find out how heavy a car is, you can find the kerb weight in the owner's manual, as well as sometimes on the V5 registration document (listed as 'G Mass in Service') or on a plate located in the car's door sill.
There will ALWAYS be a plate with weights on. It could be on any one of the door pillars, or inside the engine bay depending on the car.
The car's max authorised weight is the first figure given.
The second figure given is the max authorised weight of car and trailer combined (so subtract the first figure from this to get the max towing capacity).
The third and fourth figures are axle weights which can be ignored in this context.
If the figures given earlier in this thread are correct then your combination seems fine. Provided that the car's max authorised weight is not more than 2500kg - and I'd be amazed if it was - you can tow a 1000kg on a post-1997 Category B licence.
Just be aware though that the Nissan Juke was not really designed or built with towing heavy weights in mind - it's pretty much the same as a Micra underneath. This probably explains the low tow bar limit although with a caravan as light as yours, this shouldn't be insurmountable.
