Beachgirla 1 you are correct if it doesn't having a towing weight on the plate it isn't type approved for towing and your insurance will be invalidated, can you even get a towbar for it?
As it is a Japanese import it means the Makers never got it approved most probably because over there they tend not to tow.
It might be worth joining an owners club and ask for help on there, somebody might have an answer. Good luck, let us know how you get on as it might be helpful others.
