Hi we are looking to buy our first second hand caravan, we were so close to buying one a few weeks ago but were told our car would not tow it.
We have a Kia Sportage 1.7 2013.
Can anyone suggest a 4 berth lightweight caravan that our car would tow, preferably with 2 fixed single beds, looking to pay up to around £16,000, or do we have any other options? (Apart from changing our car)

Looks like the maximum towing weight is 1,200 Kgs, so you have limited options.

Another handy link for matching caravans

Good luck. Take an experienced caravaner with you when you look, and get a damp meter. If it’s a first time purchase, I’d suggest you take someone with you who can identify internal problems.

Alternatively go to a reputable dealer.

It’s a jungle out there!

Hi, I don't know whether you are aware but many sites won't allow commercial vehicles on site, so if your van is sign-written, or even looks like it could be a commercial vehicle, you will probably have to contact each individual site you want to visit and ask if they will accept a caravan towed by a van.

It may be more possible if you intend to just use the van to tow it to a seasonal pitch, then use the car when you visit, but if you intend to visit various different sites or tour with a van, you could have problems.
