We used a tent for years, moved to a motorhome for last 6 but now need to replace it. I wondered if it was feasible to tow a 2 berth caravan with our Berlingo mpv 1.6. This would allow us to experiment with a caravan while we sort out a house move etc and let us see if a caravan would work better for us.
I love the way we can be set up quickly in a motorhome but also thought that perhaps fitting a Fiamma awning of the type we use on the motorhome instead of a usual caravan awning would be possible - is it?
We have absolgno caravan experience so would welcome some advice. Thanks in advance.

We need more details of the car model, year, fuel and transmission to give any chance of meaningful answers about suitability. Generally a Berlingo can make a decent towing vehicle but the huge number of different versions over the years all have different capabilities.

I tow with 1.6 Berlingo Plus Diesel.
2 berth Compass Omega 432 2005 model
It’s a good match and we have had no issues, the full awning goes in the boot when travelling.
There is a motor mover which is invaluable when manoeuvring on grass,

We have a winterhoff hitch/stabiliser, Alko hitches are very popular.

Towcar.info often uses incorrect weights as the vehicle information is not based on vehicles sold in the UK market, it may give you a rough idea but you need to check your particular car's details on the V5, in the handbook and the weight plate on the car to ensure your outfit is a safe and legal match. As novice towers the guideline is that you should not tow a caravan with an MTPLM over 85% of the car kerbweight unless the car's towing limit is lower than this in which case the lower figure applies.

Yes I tow my 1tonne Caravelair caravan with a 100bhp diesel Berlingo. Towbar weight is 70kg on mine so works well.

You can get the cheaper roll out canopy that fits into caravan awning rail but you need to choose a caravan with a straight run of awning rail.
