Hi i am looking to go purchase a 2015 focus 1.0 ecoboost, only the 100ps
model though.
The overall cost for me to run would be perfect as my insurance, tax and everything else would be great.
I plan to buy a trailer tent to go away maybe once or twice a year, although would not be far, maybe less then 100 mile round trips.
Would i have any issues pulling a small trailer tent with this?
I am not bothered about going 100 mph everywhere, Just want to be able to go down to the coast every now and again and have a car cheap enough to run all year round, Probably less then 5000 miles a year.
The Ford 1.0l Ecoboost is not the finest engine ever to be brought to market. Spend some time doing some research.
In particular degas pipe which affected early models,
It also has a belt driven oil cooler. The belt is lubricated by the oil, but deteriorates over time and the belt flakes block the oil strainer. This starves the engine of oil. The oil strainer is not easily accessible so it is fitted 'for life'.
Ford expect this to be 10+ years, but If oil changes have been missed life may be less than it was designed for.
You need to check the car's maximum towing limits for braked and unbraked trailers, which should be on the V5. Note that if no figures are given against these weights, it means that the car is not approved for towing at all by the manufacturer.
My gut reaction is you'll probably be fine but some of the current 'eco' or hybrid cars have greatly reduced towing capacities.

I went to purchase a 1.0l ecoboost focus and ended up finding a 2.0l turbo diesel Skoda superb, everything took my fancy so it probably less an issue now. Thanks for the help and responses.
The Skoda 2.0 TDI is a good sound car though, no worries about towing your trailer and also plenty of extra towing capacity should you decide to upgrade to a larger trailer, or a caravan in the future. Enjoy

That's a bit of a difference!

Indeed! A friend of mine has one of those, great car! Good idea having power in reserve too which is why I tow my under 1,000kg caravan with a 2 litre diesel X Trail. Hardly even know it's on the back.
