Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering what your input is on the golf gtd for a tow car. I know it's more than capable but I'm unsure if it's too low down. Any input would be great, thanks everyone!
I've attached a photo just you all can see
when a tow bar is fitted it will be at the correct height, it is then down to you on the loading to make sure its done correctly. what where you hoping to tow with this car?

I'm looking at the detachable tow bar as I've heard they can mess with the parking sensors.
I'll be towing my 2 berth caravan with it :)
The towball won't interfere with the rear parking sensors, it's where the towing socket is fitted if it's located in the wrong place. If you are still not convinced then just stand a noseweight gauge behind the car in the centre (where the towball would be) then engage the reverse gear. If there's no bleeping from the sensors then it's evidence that a towball won't be detected either.
I think we are missing the point here. Its the caravan that the sensors detect when the towbar is done properly when hitched it turns off the rear sensors otherwise you would have a constant beeping.
Make sure you have someone who is competent with your cars electrics . I had one recommended by my Volkswagen dealer it cost over £600 but I have never had any issues.

I have heard some people say that their sensors detected the tow-ball, but mine certainly didn't. The electronics on my Volvo weren't very sophisticated and they did detect the caravan when it was on the back, but I never found it a problem, as it only beeped when I was in reverse with the caravan on. I simply ignored it.
It doesn't matter if the towball causes the sensors to operate as the ball shouldn't be in position unless you are towing if when it is there it partially obscures the no plate.
