Have you considered just buying an adapter to go from 13 pin to 7 pin?

I used one for a number of years when we changed our caravan to one with 13 pin plug and we still had 7 pin sockets on the car.

If it is a single 7 pin you have on the car not a double then do you want a fully wired 13 pin for caravan use or would a 13 pin wired just to work the caravan lights without leisure battery charging or fridge operation suffice ? If just lights then it is simple job to remove 7 pin socket & wire a 13 pin in it’s place.

Or do you have twin 7 pin sockets fitted on car for the older type twin caravan 7 pin plugs ? Then it is an easy job to wire a single 13 pin in place that will give full caravan operation.

For both the above about an hour’s labour plus about £4 for new socket so perhaps £80 but if you can do wiring then online search 13 pin wiring diagram & diy it for the price of a new socket.

However if you want to go from single 7 pin to fully functional for caravan use 13 pin then you need much more wiring so probably little change out of £200 at commercial rates.

As pointed out easy way is to use single 13 to 7 pin adaptor on single 7 pin but you will only have road light operation on caravan not battery & fridge.

If you have twin sockets on car you can get twin adaptors but they are cumbersome & you have to take care they don’t drag on ground.

The 7 pin wiring includes fog light wiring. If you plug your 13 pin caravan plug into to your 7in car socket using an adaptor 7 to 13 pin all your caravan road lights including fog lights will work.

I still use the twin 7 pin system, but as my caravan is a 1992 model I'm not sure it even has fog lights.

I could do the swap-over myself to 13 pin but why bother? If it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto. If I did change the car to 13 pin I would also have to change the plug on my trailer as that only has and needs 7 pins.
