Insignia has plenty of power and nice to drive, but I have yet to find that that is really comfortable especially on a long drive. I have never towed with one.
This car is top of my list when I renew this coming year. It has very good reviews for towing and secondhand is a bargain buy. The auto box is reliable if not quite as quick to respond as the modern Dual Clutch autos. Change auto box fluid at 60000mls if towing and renew timing belt and water pump at recommended interval.

If I remember correctly they Insignia has the torque converter transfer box?
I had a 64 plate estate the towball limit was only 75Kg dont know about the newer ones. With a 1500Kg caravan I would be looking for a minimum of 100Kg my caravan is 1500 and I tow with a Kuga.
We had a 12 plate insignia estate 2.0 diesel 158 bhp pulled our Bailey Pegasus MTPLM 1482kg without any problems. Lovely car to drive.
We only part xd for a 2.0 Kuga 177 bhp because the Insignia went into Limp mode when we was towing end of May. Although it finally got us to out destination and home, we didn't feel we could trust it anymore. Mileage was getting high, so sadly it had to go.

hi, what kuga do you tow with? our van is a bailey vigo, ive looked at the kugas but they dont seem very heavy when compared to something like an xc60 or a freelander sd4
We had a 2015 insignia estate 2.0ltr deisel Auto Sri. it was a lovely car, but could not get it to tow our van in stable condition, tried all sorts, but at 60 mph van would become unstable 50 - 55 mph okay. van was 1300Kgs MTPLM.
But other than that enjoyed owning the vehicle.
