When we were thinking about swapping from our Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian to the Rexton, as caravanners I was interested in just how much gear I could pack into the Rexton. I thought that this may be of some help to anyone thinking of getting a Rexton for towing their caravan (I know I would have found this information useful). With the Barbarian I could just sort of load the back up without too much thought but I have planned more how to load the Rexton.
It is really important how much gear you can get in the back of your tow car so here goes...
Here it is loaded up with just about everything we will take away on our European and Moroccan trips. We don't take our Kampa Rally AirPro 330 inflatable to Europe, we take a Suncamp lightweight porch awning and an Isabella (5m) sun canopy. Here I have the small split seat down so we still have 4 seats (there are only two of us + chihuahua). If I was taking the Kampa then I'd have the 2/3 split seat down. The only extra we may take to Europe would be the portable washing machine.
As I said I have no doubt that the packing will 'evolve' with use, indeed it already has. A short time after I realised that I had made an huge error (actually SWMBO pointed it out to me). In my defense I was really just trying to see that everything would fit.
Anyway, the Wastemaster (C) has been swapped with the chairs (H) so now everything is in the order that I need to take it out when setting up.
1) The Wastemaster is taken out from the back, off the boxes.
2) Aquaroll (G) is taken out through the rear offside passenger door.
3) Having set them up SWMBO gets engaged in the most important activity - making a cup of tea (using gas).
4) Electric hook-up cable is taken out of box B, and we are connected up.
5) Awning comes out (after having said cup of tea) and it is set with the groundsheet and draught skirt.
6) Boxes out and into awning (A & B)
7) Chairs (H) out and into awning
8) Next comes sit and relax for a while!
K is the small compartment built into the rear of the vehicle so has handy access to the gloves etc. If using the Kampa awning (not shown) then E is the flooring for it, if on a grass pitch and using the Suncamp porch awning then it goes on the ground outside at the entrance to the porch awning.
If we are taking the awning flooring (E) then it needs to come out before the boxes and needs to be packed away after them, so best not to have it flat underneath them.
Our dog (Lola) is a chihuahua and travels secured in a pet carrier bag on the seat behind SWMBO, her food bowls etc. are in the caravan.
We have a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the caravan and I carry spare filament bulbs in there as well. I take the point about the high-vis jackets and will put them in the door pockets.
When touring in the UK I wouldn't have an awning and the Isabella sun canopy (D), I was just checking that everything would fit for our European and Morocco trips. Safety-wise everything, apart from the top pf the Aquaroll (G) is below the level of the seats, and all the small objects are secure within the boxes.
Phew! Makes me tired just thinking about it!

About time EVs got hit too, they use the roads.
Oh they will, as soon as they become any more than a small minority of vehicles on the road. If the government wants to continue with its policy of using the motorist as a cash-cow, they won't be able to avoid taxing EVs as there won't be enough petrol and diesel vehicles out there.
