Hi All
Is anyone using the new 2022 Kia Sportage for towing a caravan aprox 1300 kg ? Also does the tow bar from a 2019 Sportage fit the new model?
thanks
Bob
Your local towbar fitter will be the best person to ask re the different years and is it the same.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
There are various versions of the Kia Sportage for example, the Sportage 3, Sportage 4, the QL & QLE and the NQ5 so you need to be a bit more specific which models of the Sportage you are referring to in order to provide a more accurate answer.
I would say you need to check out all the weights very carefully. Different models of the same car can have very different capabilities for towing and always try not to be too near the limit of what the car can tow.
We used to have a 2 litre diesel Hyundai ix35 which was basically the same as the Kia Sportage at that time as the two companies are joined and share a lot of design elements, it’s just the cosmetic spec that differs. I am not sure if it is the same today but when we had ours back in 2010 the Hyundai ix35 and the Kia Sportage were almost identical underneath the surface. We towed a smallish Bailey caravan that weighed 1250kg mtplm and while the Hyundai towed it fine, it never felt as stable as we wanted, despite lots of careful loading and a great deal of trial and error to find a good balance. We now have a Kia Sorento and it is a great tow car. It towed the 1250kg Bailey like a dream and we now have a much heavier Swift which it also tows brilliantly.

If buying new I would try to get a tow bar and electrics fitted as part of the deal. No harm in asking - it worked for us!
