Mrs.Bonce, I have a similar car to yours, a 21reg Santa Fe.
THE ISG won't activate in this cold weather, on short journeys, it needs to be fully warmed up and done some miles. The dash symbol
is sometimes an orange colour, not activated, sometimes a green one,
activated.
Just let the system do it's thing, it's not something to worry about, and unless you were going to be held up for ages, for example a motorway accident and the road is blocked, I doubt whether it achieves it's purpose in normal driving, for example stopping at traffic lights etc.
