Jeez , i thought of an Omega for my next towcar .after reading that ive discovered tyres are far dearer than what i paid for 4x4 tyres plus fuel consumption is worse than a 2.7 Terrano as well.

think i`ll stick with what ive got for a few years

22 mpg nar better get it sorted, the 3.0lt auto does 25. xx mpg combined 2.2lt 27mpg and 2.0lt should give 32/35mpg combined.

Omega is sturdily built and lasts well; high mileage is not an issue provided there's service history. Most used buyers prefer petrol V6 cars or the 2.2i 16v, but the 2.5 TD is highly rated as a tow car and liked for its refined BMW engine that can give 35 mpg.
oh i have the worst one the 2.0lt for power to weight bloody thing like a brick.

Yeah right!
Don't know how these figures were attained but we had 2.5 and 3 litre Elites on the company fleet and never ever got anywhere near these figures either with motorway work in cruise control or otherwise.

They were all maintained to the highest standard cos they were da bosses motors.

Problem with the 2 and 2.2 litre ones is the power to weight ratio as you quite rightly say.

There came a point with me that I felt that I could no longer justify that kind of expense from a fixed income and without the benefit of company expenses.

Some one mentioned quik fit- I now avoid them as they once tried very hard to convince me that a smll exhaust  box on my wifes Subaru Justy was a catalyctic converter and would cost £600 .It does not have one. The fitter was after his bonus.

After seeing an area manager I got 25% off next set of tyres but never took it up.

Ex- police ones often come up on ebay.

policecar

In fact a very powerful one in white has a very strong chance of being ex-police. I have seen one seller say they came with uprated brakes and suspension as standard. The extras also seem to be stripped down a bit. You don't get all the expensive electronics that generally appear on the high end models. Another worry is holes. They often have holes in the trim where radios and things have been screwed in, and marking on the roof with lights etc.

Due to the fuel consumption issue I really wanted a diesel, although I think I've probably given up on one altogether now. I'm currently driving a mitsubishi space wagon with a 2.0, 136 BHP engine and would like something bigger and heavier, as I'm pushing my luck for weight limits.
