But doesn't it have to be within 12 months not 10? This will be the first MOT, the car was first registered in September 2020. I understood that it can't be done until August.

You can take the vehicle for a MOT every week for a year if you wished to do so. The MOT on our Corolla was at an awkward time so we had it done about 4 months earlier than when it was due. No problem.

They must rub their hands when they see you coming as the more faults they can find, the more you are going to pay.

You can have an MOT done early and normally most folk would do it up to a month before the due date. You can have the new certificate dated 12 months from when the old one expires but only for a period of up to 1 month ahead.

It's useful cos you can see what needs doing and get it done before the MOT expires.

Most manufacturers allow about 30 days/1,000 miles after the due date for a service to maintain the warranty.

This would mean you could have a service and MOT in August, 30 days before your MOT. MOT then expires in September 24, next year use the 30 day leeway for your service and have them done together in September, assuming your annual mileage is below the maximum between services.
