Our next trip, we are going to Shamwari CL, on the A358 just south of Axminster. Would it be better to come through the town, or up from the A35? Coming from Stockbridge, Hampshire which is as near halfway as I could find.
i would say the A35, not that there is much difference in time or distance, but coming out of axminster there are road works going on, you also have more chances to stop off on the way in blandford and then dorchester

Just as a matter of interest. In the Shona language (Zimbabwe) the word "Shamwari" means "friend". The owner may be from Zimbabwe which previously was Rhodesia. It would be interesting to know as I lived in Zimbabwe.
Will try to remember to let you know. Anyway, re directions, there is a turn off the A35 near Axminster which is very near the site. This means, coming from Stockbridge, we will have to go through Salisbury. Deep joy, have done it several times and there is always a hold up. Don't know why it isn't bypassed.
