Just had new tow bar fitted with 13 pin plug and everything works apart for all my tail lights. So plugged my sons car into it but only had 7 pin plug and all my lights worked including tail lights what got a 13 pin tester and it says all lights on caravan work. Plugged it into car socket and it says all them work. Any idea what the fault could be. I’ve also put new 13 pin plug on caravan but no difference

Personally, if I had a towbar fitted, professionally, and found a problem, I would be asking the fitter to check it out.

Just my own personal opinion, of course.

On my Peugeot, the engine has to be running for the lights to work.

Thank you. I did go back to the fitter and he said it was the caravan. But like I said my son plugged his car onto caravan and the lights worked

So you have 13 pin and son has 7 pin. What has caravan got as one of you must be using an adaptor.

The caravan as got 13 pin. I used a adapter to for sons 7 pin to 13 pin

I’ve also tested caravan lights out with a supply from battery and they all work. When I took the car back to the fitter I told him that and he said yes because there is more voltage but when you plug it in the car it must have some power returning from caravan plug and 1 off the car tail lights go off

I’ve got it fixed put another relay on car and it works fine now
