Hi all I have a MK2 2007 ford galaxy and I just like to know are they good caravan tow cars ? Mine is the 2.0 tdci zetec.. .. also can they tow a decent weight caravan... Before the galaxy I had a insignia 2.0 cdti estate and that towed like a train so I I hope the galaxy can match the insignia any advice would be very grateful
To find what your car can tow you need to look on the plate on the car. There are many variations of car specifications and it is impossible to say what any particular car can tow without the figures from its own individual plate. As a 2 litre diesel it should be quite good, but you need to check that plate.
The 2.0 TDI Zetec engine is the same as that fitted to the Mondeo, S-Max and subsequently the Kuga, all of which are highly rated as tow cars. Given that the Galaxy is a little bit heavier than any of them, my gut reaction is it should be fine and most likely comparable with your Insignia. However, as Colin says, the answer as to what weight the car is capable of towing is on the VIN plate.

We tow with a Galaxy. with mine I uprated the rear springs to heavy duty and replaced all the bushes on the rear. bear in mind that its a 7 seater and unless you know the owner history it may have had a hard life, and the springs tired. ours sits well with the c/van and does not sag (back down)and tow well.
