Our caravan is 1600kg, it's pretty hard trying to find a decent tow car, currently tow with a 2017 ford edge which does the job really well, am looking to get a new car in the next six months but there seems to be a massive lack of availability of decent cars that have a kerb weight of 1850+ Kgs.
Looked at a couple of MHEVs but not sure how decent they will be towing 1600kg with a 1.5 3 cylinder petrol engine, I fear it will get worse as 2030 approaches
I tow our 1600 coachman with a Volvo xc60 plug in hybrid, to say it pulls it with ease is a understatement, when it was 2 weeks old I towed our van 330 miles to Cornwall, which is quite hilly & it was a doddle. 2 ltr pertrol & plug in hybrid delivers about 350 bhp so incredibly powerful

We have a 2020 2.2 diesel Santa Fe and are very pleased with it.
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, just seen the new Santa Fe and without doubt it has to be one of the ugliest cars around.
The back end is beyond belief.
Will admit to loving my past Santa Fe and the lovely warranty they gave me full advantage of.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
According to the data that I've seen the new Santa Fe's have a towing capacity of about 1100kgs, I imagine that will disappoint a lot of caravan owners (wouldn't therefore tow mine at 1600kgs).
Hyundai obviously took the decision to discontinue the diesel variant and I imagine it won't be too long until Kia follow suit with the Sorento.
I'm not I'm the market for a brand new car as I really don't think there is much value in it but will obviously start affecting me in about 3 years time
