Has any one notice the number of commercial vehicles used to tow there caravans, guess it's down to the size and weight.
Few year ago they where frowned at but now widely accepted.
My thinking is the sites are struggling so have wavered the ban

Waived the ban. Don't know what sort of sites you use, but they are definitely still frowned upon on CLs.

Commercial vehicles have never been banned from any caravan site or CL as many people use pick ups for vans to town their caravan. However some site object to vehicles with sign writing on them. Not every working person can afford two large vehicles in the household, one for the business and the other to tow their caravan.

I have only ever heaed of one of two independent sites not allowing commercials.
I believe both club sites do allow.
We see plenty on our travels and honestly woudnt see why anyone would object or frown on them.

I think it's a case of times changing. At one time only travellers used commercial vehicles to tow their caravans, and many sites banned them for that reason. However, these days many other people use commercial vehicles for their own personal transport as well as for their businesses, so the rules have become more relaxed.

I have no objection personally think Colin 21 they may have been because travelling community use them.
But would travelling people pay to stop on sites.
Only used c.l. sites a few times, the last time there was a family driving a ford ranger the owners didn't seem to mind.

On occasions a family join either of the clubs, go to a site and the take it over with the rest of all their families arriving in the middle of the night. I think this happened recently on a CAMC site.

I wouldn't have thought it was possible for anyone to arrive on a CAMC site in the middle of the night? They have barriers.

If the barrier is code operated then the first unit just passes the code to everyone else. Some barriers are locked at night, some aren't.

Once there were a few travellers units in the C&CC site in Delamont while we were there, they eventually got the police in to move them. They were at the far end of the site from us so I can't say what they were like.

I've also been on a site in Tipperary which had travellers on it legally for a few days, they paid and caused no bother whatsoever.

I was in Camac Valley in Dublin this year and there were a huge number of commercial vans, I think people are using them when working away from home. Having said that I did the same thing, years ago I was on a week long course in Dublin and rather than stay in a hotel on expenses we got a free week in Camac Valley on expenses, the only difference was I had a car not a van.

Those barriers are designed to stop the likes of you and me Mrs Bonce, who would respect them, not someone who would think nothing of simply driving straight through it if they couldn't physically lift it out of the way.

A similar thing occurred on an independent site that I used frequently near Edinburgh. One family booked a pitch then their friends arrived with their vans and pickups. The adults were out all day in their vehicles leaving the kids running around the site causing havoc.

The family already on site have a barrier key so not an issue.
