Can't comment on your 5th wheel set up and whether or not that attracts limitations and/or premium prices, but quite common over last few years it seems for huge price increases to be dropped on insurance customers.
Never come across option for insuring my car and caravan together, so insured separately, IIRC, think premiums total to just shy of £1k! That's not because of any extravagant/exotic car or caravan, or bad driving history/claims record, it's just the penalty for living in London!

Car insurance is one of the most open and competitive markets in the UK. You have received an offer, shop around and see if it is cheaper elsewhere as insurance companies won't be loyal to customers, it comes down to them trying to profit from the lazy.

Have you tried Caravan Guard for the 5th Wheeler, they cover them and we have always done well with them for caravan and moho insurance. Good service on the phone.

Wow! People actually had car insurance go down? I haven't had that happen for years, except when I have switched companies.
I always wait for my renewal quote to come in then shop around using at least 3 comparison sites plus a couple of companies that don't use them. I am with one of them at the moment as the company I was with until November 2023 nearly doubled their quote for renewal. I had been with them 2 years. Even the company I am currently with increased the premium last November by nearly £100. Only one company quoted me a tiny bit less, but I'd never heard of them, and all the others were considerably more. I'll see what happens next year. I have been driving since 1965, was a professional coach driver for nearly 20 years, and have only ever made one claim when I had a car stolen. That was nearly 15 years ago.
I really don't understand how insurance companies work. A company that gives a reasonable quote this year is very expensive next year but a company that was much too expensive last year is the cheapest one this year. How does that work? My theory is that that they just pluck a figure out of thin air to see what they can get away with.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
