Hi Frances , here's what you can try , disassemble the stabiliser and clean / rough up the friction disc's and their mating faces , use emery cloth or a medium wet and dry paper . If that doesn't sort it you'll probably need to change the friction disc's . Also check that you have the correct setting for the pressure applied to the disc's ( Note how this is set by using scales on the side of the blade , see Bulldog instructions to see what i'm on about ) If you have a Bulldog stabiliser have a look here for the instructions and click on the stabiliser you have .

Note most blade type stabilisers are pretty similar to Bulldogs 100Q and 200Q so i would have thought the settings are pretty similar too .
