Hiya' Anne

Sorry but I don't know anything about the Kia' other than it's a heavy car, so, with the 2.0ltr engine one would imagine it to be pretty good as a tow car.   I currently have a Renault with a 1.6 engine that I would put against most for pulling.......but the car its self is a little on the light side. I have been looking at the new Chevrolet Tacuma for the same reasons as yourself.  Good heavy car for towing.

Good Luck

Got a feeling this month's practical caravan had an article on towing with a Kia, might be worth a squiz next time you pass the newsagents!

Yep I tow with a new Sportage 2.0 diesel automatic and it is very capable. Well worth a look at for those of us that want to spend our hard earned money wisely. The auto trans combined with cruise control makes life very easy when towing.

just an idea but if you like the looks of a jeep then you can't go far wrong with a ssangyong (or daewoo) korando , also good value is the musso.

when we were looking earlier in the year we were almost put off a ssangyong as people were saying the parts were hard to get hold of but this is not the case the engine and running gear are mercedes so if all else fails then they can provide them!!

these cars will cost you about half the price of other 4 by 4s and once bitten by the bug ( others driving them always wave) it's hard to escape!!

hi saxoann , you wont get a brand new one as they are only supplying australia with korandos but you will get as near as dammit if you do a search. they are selling the rexton over here at the mo and are due to release 2 new models shortly.

we bought a used korando ( s reg ) 2.9 diesel with 48k on the clock for under £3k , now we were looking at getting a landrover so we made a huge saving. if you look on auto trader and do a search you will get an idea.

hi vectratot

i was just about to say that our tow bar came from somewhere....

i am totally smitten with the korando and if we win the lotto tonight then i shall be importing a brand new one !!! our 'van is a reasonable weight ( 1289 maw) and it tows this without noticing. the maximum towing weght of the car is a huge 2400 kg so we tow at about 65%.

dont want a second hand car though, it will be either replacing my 6 month old fiesta or my hubbys company car.

We travel abroad often and do want a car more likely to have problems.  not being snobbish i drove an old fiat uno for years and my car before the fiesta was a second hand saxo, which I loved an would still have had my daughter not written it off.  Just want the reliability of a newer car
