I am thinking of buying a Kia Sorrento 2.5 diesel as a tow vehicle for my 2200kg caravan (unloaded) - as this vehicle is new to Australia (released August -07) there is no local history available. Has anyone had experience towing this weight?

There is a section on the Kia Sorento website for caravanners, some of the folks on there have big vans, seem to have no problems with them.

Ours is an excellent towcar,you don't notice the van on the back!  ( Bailey Pageant-1400kg max)

Hi Bob, the Sorrie will pull a van of that weight no problem! just noticed the time that has passed since the previous post from baithooker to  your own...... nearly 3 years !! wow.

As DS says. the sorento site is great, i've had mine for almost 3 years now and i love it, i use the site a lot and its pretty helpfull, but watch......once you look at all the modifications that everyone has done you soon get the bug.

Thanks for your replies - I will check out the web site.- currently I am pulling it with a 5.7 litre V8 that averages out at 20 litres/100km!! A lot of fuel for a planned 2 year trip around Australia! My concerns are not only the fuel, but whether the Sorrie will have enough grunt to do the job! 

Hi there Manty, Just bought one myself last week 2.5xe, and though I have not towed with it yet, I.m very happy with it, got mine through www.autotarder.co.uk , just go into their drop down search box, type in your post code and your price range, and the model you are looking for and hey presto ! a list should pop up of all sorento's in your area. Best of luck.
