My husband and I are looking to buy a caravan soon and we were hoping to use our company van (unmarked) to tow it.  Recently I read that some sites will not allow vans on them.  Has anyone else had this problem?  We mainly use the Caravan Club CL's.

Not had the problem myself, but it's up to the site wardens if they let you on or not.

Check with the club before you go ahead.

hi,because of fear of travellers you will be turned away from some sites.not been to france with the caravan,i think its worse there from what i have read.a safe bet would be to ring before you book in and ask.i have seen them on CC sites odd times, they made the driver leave the van on the car park.17

the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

I,ve towed with my van. As long as you ring before hand you should be alright. It really doe,s annoy when it doe,s happen  . I pay my money like everyone else so why the problem?. The gypsy argument is a shallow one as the 1 or 2 gypsys who drank in my mums pub said they only use deserted or common land. They gave campsites a wide berth cos 1. you have to pay 2. they would,nt let them in anyway 3. Its so much more easier to get evicted. I think snobbery plays a part in it which also winds me up !!!!!!! The only reason I towed with a van was because I was a mobile base camp for canoe expeditions. I needed the van for all the tents, cooking eqpt etc that went with it. This topic has been raised time & time again and will probally still be around in years to come. Grrrrrrr!!!  Regards THUMPER.

Thanks for all the advice - I think we'd better steer clear of towing with a van and buy a volvo or something.
