Garry, I wonder if you could tell me where you found that the MAM of a Peugeot 206 is 2,365 Kgs?

The Gross Vehicle Weight of a 2.0 litre 5 door 307 is only 1,720 Kgs and I would have thought that a 206 would be lighter.

Yes, I wondered that Mary, in which case it includes the allowance for the caravan so is well below 3,500 Kgs and is legal for a new driver to drive.

 Nice way of putting it Caz. I passed 1997, and if i didn't know for sure i would have been worried a few times on this thread. Would have been just the wife towing as she passed nearly 20 years ago. I was a biker for years, Now she won't let me have a bike awwww.
