pick up my new ( to me ) discovery on tuesday it is 300 2.5 Tdi GS no towbar fitted at the moment but looked at various web sites and it seems as if i could fit it on my own, anyone out there done one or had any experiance, or would it be just as easy to get the towbar man out again.
Hi Munchter , i fitted mine myself to a Vectra , it was fairly straight forward , though it would have been easier if i'd had someone to give me a hand ( lifting the frame work up while the bolts were put in ) , you may need to drill some large holes for the bolts , they're usually marked on the boot floor by the maunafacturer with a dimple or are just gromets that you remove to then put the bolts through . If you get good instructions with the towbar and can do the wiring for the sockets i'd say go for it .
Fit yourself its very easy on a Disco, I fitted them to both my Disco's when I had the 300 and the TD5. It took about halfhour for both types, no drilling as all the holes are already there.
Go for a Witter tow bar as they seem to fit exact.
I am sure the 300 series has a plug for the tow bar electrics as well just like the TD5, it was behind the drivers rear light cluster. I think the 300 is inside the rear behind the light cluster.
hi muncher i fitted my tow bar as well no drilling there is a plug in the rear light cluster off/side i found it easyer to go and buy the plug connector off of landrover instead of trying to rewire the tow bar connector

yes once youve spent nearly 30minutes wrestling with the rear seats, which when the bulb goes in the back is just as much a pain in the bum to sort out! oh yes another 40 mins to put it back together again!
