According to my information the Audi TT is not type approved to use as a towcar!!! When I checked I was surprised how heavy it was for such a small car.

If it is not type approved you will not get a tow bar for it.  Check the witter site. this is very useful for info.

The TT is officially nilled for towing, so it is a no I'm afraid. Towing equipment for all vehicles (with one or two exceptions) have to have type approval. This applies to those registered after 1998. It is impossible to buy a type-approved towbar for a vehicle which is nilled; type approval incorporates using the manufacturer's recommended fitting points, and if there aren't any then the towbar can't be approved.

If a vehicle was registered pre-1998, then you can fit just about anything to it. Thus, in the old days local fabricators were allowed to chuck together a few bits of metal, weld them onto your chassis and let you tow with it. This has all changed for post-98 cars.

There are some excellent companies who will create and install a bespoke towbar for any vehicle, as long as they are exempt from type-approval (imports/classic/commercial etc.). I met a customer at a recent show who had had a towbar installed on a Bentley, which he had had for sixty-plus years!
