you could have a look here Steve...although it might not have your exact details I'm sure there'll be something there that will be close enough to give you a good idea. iIhad a quick look and my intial view is that your outfit is just about on the button but with a 1.8 you might just struggle a bit up the long motorway hills. atb

We have a 1.8 zetec mondeo Verona 16v  2000 which is not listed on any of the rec. sites but we go by the weight which is listed on the inside of the drivers door which is higher than the normal mondeo zetec. . We have no probs towing our  Eldiss Vouge SE (1996) it works out as a lower weight ( less than 75%)to what is recomended ( going by plates on car and van) The Mondeo is just fab as a tow car in our point of view

I tow my van with a 2000 1.8 Mondeo Zetec. My van is 14 foot long also, it labours a bit on hills but just change down gear and it picks up again no probs.

We have just returned from our first ever caravan holiday!! We have a 2003 1.8 mondeo (i.m its the same). As a new tower I found it mostly fine. Although, as previously said, I had to ensure I changed down soon enough for hills! Generally once I got going there was no trouble. I did have a little smell from the clutch when reversing ( Heavy weight and generally need to ride the clutch as doing so). I assume this is normal with any car?
