Has anyone by any chance had a tow bar fitted recently to a newish Ford Mondeo. The Mondeo had a slight facelift towards the middle of last year which has resulted in a redesigned rear bumper. I have tried a couple of towbar fitters and there is confusion as to which towbars can now be fitted. All I want is a basic fixed towbar. The car is a 5 door hatchback tdci zetec. One fitter suggested a PCT(?) towbar. I've never heard of them. I would assume that one towbar is as good as any other. Is that right?

Grateful for any advice

Andy

Andy you don't say where you are or if you intend to fit it yourself

the aftermarket towbars are all good but you need to get them fitted properley it is best to check the yellow pages to find the local fitters or try the dealers and get the dealer one fitted

Reedrider,

Thanks for getting rid of the "blue face"!

I have the great misfortune to live near the London/Kent border. I will need the towbar fitted. I hadn't considered having a Ford dealer fit one because I assume it would cost the earth. My problem at the moment is that because the facelifted Mondeo rear is relatively new there is some confusion at to which towbars will fit. One fitter said that Brink have not yet produced the correct fitting kit for my car. Another one said it would have to be a PCT, another said a PCT or a Witter. All of them want to seee the car they order the towbar. I was hoping someone else with a new "facelifted" Mondeo may be able to tell me which towbar they had fitted. Unlikey, but I thought I would ask!

Cheers - Andy

Just had a towbar fitted by Towequipe based in Nuneaton (Not a million miles from you)  I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The link goes to their eBay tow bar sales and you fit it yourself: Otherwise they offer a 'while you wait'fitting service (2-3 Hours) at their Nuneaton workshops.

E-mail them to discuss your requirements, they WILL get back to you and their advice and service (for me anyway ) was spot on.

I have also had two from Towequipe, the price was great, the instructions clear (took about 2 hours all in) and the service was one of the best i have dealt with in recent times.

Edited to add, he has feedback in excess of 11000 with 1 negative, now that takes some doing with all the idiot's on E-Bay!!

I will give another medal to Towequipe, who have fitted towbars to my last four wheelchair vehicles, nothing is too much trouble, even waiting for a Ricon lift to be removed first and the refitted after towbar fitted. They have some Mobile crews as well now.

As you are London area, have you tried Watling Towbars A5 near St Albans

I bought my tow bar for my 03 Mondeo and found them really helpfull. Fitted it myself. A cut was needed in the bumper! I had to ring for some advice and they were straight back with the answer.
