I recently fitted a new towbar and went for a Swan Neck type instead of the standard type, but didn't realise I would need to fit a different stabiliser bracket. I've had a brief look at doing it but the part of the bracket that accepts the stabiliser end seems dangerously close to the ground to me. Has anyone got any experience of fitting this type of bracket ? Does it bolt to the Swan Neck itself ? Any advice would be appreciated.
I've just bought a car fitted with one of these too, it's one the you can remove & store in the car, I've been wondering if I should consider changing it as I'm not 100% certain how secure they are. Can any members throw any light on this one. Our caravan won't be here until the 18th & we have 4 weeks from then to get it sorted.
Thanks for the info. After a bit of research and a little tinkering I think I've got it . The stabiliser is the Snakemaster from the Towsure catalogue and the bracket is similar to the one you posted but is a little more elaborate. (I only joined up for these Message Boards today so I haven't figured out how to post a picture myself yet !!) I'll try it out during the week and let you know if it's successful.

Hi, I have a removeable swanneck fitted to my towcar, It's towed for two years with it, Pulliing a 20ft twin axle fully loaded and It's as good as a fixed bar, I always remove it when not towing and did wonder at first if it was secure, But must be designed to be and definately is. Plus you never knock your shins or cover yourself in grease...
------------- Doing as little as possible for as much as possible...

Thanks very much for replying to my question Rabb_uk. I'm happy now to leave the towbar as it is. You know how it is with something different, until you hear from someone in the same boat you're never certain.
