find the kerb weight of your car and the caravan needs to be 85% of this weight to be safe on tow.so you need also to know the weight of the caravan fully loaded as well.called MTPLM OR MAX LOAD.welcome to ukcs[:o)]

It will be fine if its the newer type mondeo. I used to tow my bretagne with one, no problem. Worked out about 87%

I have a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 5-door with a kerb weight of 1507kgs. Bailey give the MPTLM of the Burgundy as 1400kgs, which is 93% of the car's kerbweight, which I wouldn't contemplate towing. I doubt if the Mondeo's rear suspension would be up to it, either.

Hi stevie65,Are you sure about pulling a Bretagne with a mondeo? We had  galaxy which would have just about done the job but we swapped it for a sorento just to be sure, not doubting you but the Bretagne is a pretty big van,how do you rate yours by the way?

Yes. I have a TDCI 130 zetec estate. I had it weighed and it came in at about 1610 KG.

Towed the bretagne with no problem. Plenty of pulling power for any hill. Only reason I now use a pajero is that we needed the extra seats and I did get stuck in a muddy field in april and had to get towed out!. But as a tow car goes, they are brill...just watch out for wet grass or mud. But then, I expect you would get that with any FWD car.

As far as the bretagne goes, brilliant. Only problem we have had (its 6 months old now) is the black rubber keeps coming off the door . I do find it quite light at front mind. I find I have to pack most items in front of the axel to get near 75kg noseweight.
