With a van at 1454kg, the 85% rule means a vehicle at 1650kg approx. There aren't many car type vehicles that heavy.

Check out this link....www.cuddles.abelgratis.net   for car towing limits and kerbweights

Just buy a big 4x4. You'll never have to worry about weight again. They were invented especially for caravanners!

You do not need to go the 4x4 route, all you will do is upset all the anti Chelsea Tractor mob once again. I have found a solution.... a big MPV.

This one to be precise, put a deposit on it on Thursday

I agree with the 4x4 comment, and I love the look and practicality of the Nissan but I would be weary of obtaining spares, but it looks great.

I expect so David, do not really know a lot about it at the moment, I think it is just a love of Nissans, used to own a 280zx, and trying to find something that I can fit in. Most cars, including 4x4's, are not Padre friendly (6ft7" and 21 stone)

But it certainly is a nice vehicle and quite an uncommon one.

Have a peep at the Espace 3.0Dci initiale. It has a good towing capacity & is lovely to drive. As we haven't towed with ours yet, only a week to wait now though, I don't know how it'll compare woth your as far as mpg is concerned though. The MPV centre at Kingston Bagpiuze should be able to put you right & I think you've got an MPV centre in Newbury on the A4 going out towards Speen haven't you. One of them should be able to let you have a test drive in one at least. This is our 5th Espace now & they're excellent family vehicles.

You'll like that one Maverick, my mate has had Terranos for years, he has the 2.7 Tdi long wheelbase versions & loves them. He reckons they tow brilliantly.
