Personally i would buy something different as the 2.0l sport isn't as stable towing as the LWB and you will find you could be short of room for luggage and passengers.
Also there isn't a lot of power only 113bhp and mpg isnt that good at about 20-25.
The price they are asking is way over the odds take a look at Parkers they have it listed for £2270
Plus it will depend on what weight your caravan is and dont forget the added cost of a towbar approx £250 for a Frontera.
I would also be wary of the very low mileage as alot of low mileage vehicles come about due to been unreliable and spending more time in a garage.
At the end of the day its upto your own personal choice but there are plenty of very good tow cars about turbo diesels for economy, meaty V6 very thirsty though or plenty of people use 1.8 or 2.0l cars but you really need to know and find out what size and more importantly weight your van will be so you can get a good safe towing match.
Good luck and take your time.

Hi, both for and against then? I could sl*g off the disco as they have bad points also the shoguns etc, But I wont because they all have their own good and bad points. But as stated above its a good solid towcar, yes the 2.3 is sluggish on start off, but its not a sprint car and will tow up and down hills in top at 55 all day, plus that engine is bullet proof, The 2.5 is a bit quicker, turbo lag and better injection were sorted out, the petrol is not as economical but is an easier drive around town..so for the size and as a tug the swb is as I said ok to a matched outfit, Lwb is always going to be better, as for price, each car be seen as an individual, But I do agree that price above is high, But is it a dealer? what discount for cash etc? towbars are available for £92 for that model with type approval, But lets not start a slanging match between 4x4 owners and lets give the bloke honest opiions not just hearsay about a car you may never have owned, if you own one and its good say so, if you own one and its crap say why, then sell it, simple ???
PS I've owned a disco and a shogun and due to cost and reliability both were sold...
------------- Doing as little as possible for as much as possible...

Hi
We also were looking at Fronteras as a new tow car and also the Omega. Both are pretty easy to find on autotrader - but the Omega is an executive car and a Frontera (certainly the older ones) are very basic and have had bad reviews.
Just by chance we test drove and really liked the Ford Maverick II (Fords version of the Nissan Terrano II). Its a 1998, 2.7 turbo diesel intercooler, LWB 7 seater in immaculate condition with full service history. It has electric everything and air con.
It is a cracking vehicle but not many reviews coming up for them. Coming back on the motorways, I was cruising in the Focus at 75-80 mph (to keep up with the traffic ) and the Maverick just sailed straight past me as it was 'opened up' to see how it went lol.
Only problem we have is the aircon needs regassing but otherwise she is fabulous. Might be worth you looking at one of these if you are looking for a 4x4?
You can get a good one for less than £2.5k
