Hi all , My frontera has a strange problem, on a steady slope, it starts to lose power forcing me to change down until it wont rev above 2500 and if i dip the clutch it will cut out, On a very steep hill it runs fine and will accelerate no problem, Also its fine on the flat or downhill, It's a '94 2.3td LWB, 98,000 mls and is well serviced. Fuel is not low (1\2 tank) and is not using water, oil etc doesn't overheat and runs perfect the rest of the time If i do allow it to cut out it wont start unless its spun over for a while , I have manually primed it and it makes no difference, Has anybody any ideas or has had a similar problem so I have an idea where to start?

Hi rabb

The first thing I would do before anything attempting anything complicated is change the air and fuel filters (check for water in the fuel at the same time). I know you say that its been serviced but you may have a dud filter. Also check the air intake for leaves or debris etc

John
