Can anyone advise the tow capacity of a Citroen CX 2500 GTi as i have a handbook which only gives tow capacity for France.

Am I being a bit silly here but might the French limit not be the same as for in the UK? When deciding what you tow with a particular car the law requires that you don't tow anything heavier than the manufacturers towing limit. Obviously it makes sense to lower towed weight to around 85% of kerbweight if you can as this will make the towing experience more confortable. Its worth having a look at this website www.whattowcar.com as it has an excellent database although I don't know whether it will go back that far.

David - i was thinking that French regs may be different toUK. The car weighs 1840 kg so it should be able to tow 1564kg but handbook for France says 1300kg!

Is it an automatic because Citroen tend to mark the towing weight down quite a lot for autos. The trouble is that if your handbook says 1300kgs and that is the only officially confirmed information then you could be breaking the law by towing more than 1300kgs. You might have to investigate more to see if you can get a better weight. Might be worth an e-mail to Bert who runs the whattowcar website.
