Has anyone fitted a towbar to the Corolla Verso 2.2 D4D? I would really like to fit one that does not require cutting a hole in the bumper.

We had one fitted to our 03 model Corolla Hatch and bumper didnt need cutting. Towsure list a different model number for their towbars for the Corolla and Corolla Verso so cannot be sure...

Thanks,

I'll get in touch with Towsure and see if a bumper cut is needed on the 2006 model.

Hi, I fitted a towbar to mine. After a lot of research at the time I could not find one that did not require a bumper cut. You can't see the cut though.

Hi Graham,

Mine is a 7 seater 2006 model. Which make of bar did you fit? If the cut can't be seen it would be fine.

Thanks

Les

Hi Les

I fitted a Witter fixed bar. If you measure the actual size of the cutout required you will find that Witter allow a bit extra on their instructions. I made my cutout 10mm smaller than Witters and it fits around the bar with no gaps showing.

Be prepared to drilll your chassis as well though. Unless they have changed it, you will need to enlarge 2 existing holes.

There are also a lot of extra bolts and brackets to go on underneath, stretching the full width of the car. If you go to Witters website you should be able to download the fitting instructions before you buy one.

Graham

Hi Graham,

That sounds perfect. I've fitted a few tow bars over the years, so it should be o/k. Just one more question. Did you use a plug in electrics kit or did you connect directly into the wiring?

Thanks

Les

I used a standard kit available from most caravan shops. The Toyota kit is easier but costs a lot of money!

How does the cut not show? Does the towbar allow you to have a plate on it to stop bumps.

Mark/Jane,

I haven't fitted my bar yet, but the cut out is right underneath the bunper and out of sight. I'm hoping to fit a bumper plate to mine. Will be fitting the towbar when I get home in a couple of weeks.

I noticed that you have another post asking about a Toyota fitted bar. I looked into this and found out that they fit Brink swanneck bars to the Verso. This requires cutting a hole in the center of the bumper for the swanneck to poke through. I don't want a hole in full view in the middle of the bumper, so I didn't persue it any further.

My wifes is a 1.8 petrol verso 7 seater. Just had a PCT towbar fitted without cutting bumper. Cost £160 (incl single electrics)
