Hi weve just bought a vectra 03 2.0 dti to mainly use as a second car and a tow car.I was just wondering if anybody had any info on the car ie:with towing and reliability, the mtplm is ok Cheers David

We use an old x reg dti to tow, caravan weighs about 1000kgs laden, good tow vehicle for what we want, loads off low down torque, starts to pull at 1700 revs and pulls like a train at 2000 revs. Impressed with the fuel consumption when towing, probably due to low revs torque, your wasting your time revving beyond 3000 revs it just makes a noise. As for reliability, the jury is out broke down in France when something went wrong with the air con and caused the car to overheat. (£400 main dealer dealt with by insurance). 3 months later hd valve went west as well, while in garage they discovered the the brake servo was faulty, £600 dealt with by our hard earned money!!!! If it stays reliable from now on we will forgive its tantrums!!! Yours is a later model, hopefully more reliable.

HI,we had a 2lt vectra but a petrol,apart from engine same car,my point is we had a 4/5 berth 1000kgs and the front of the car was a bit light and when it went for mot i had broken 1 of the front coil springs but you couldnt tell by how the car sat.So watch the weight.

We have the same car as you but the 2004 model.

We tow a Fleetwood Sonata Melody which is 1160kgs in running order and 1400kgs max load. Have only towed a couple of times but it has coped comfortably even up and down a very steep bank.  Previously we towed a Conway Crusader at 1000kgs and it was a dream.

Same here. We tow an Elddis Avante 482 also 2004 vintage with no probs whatsoever. Been to Lake District, Cornwall, Hampshire and all over Northern France and Southern Brittany and the car never seems short of puff. Hope I'm not tempting fate by saying this!!!!!

I have the same car (estate) and tow a bailey padgent auvergne-1300kg ish and it works fine.  The car is very relaxing on motorways and the engine pulls the van well up the steep gradients of the A30 in Cornwall, never going below 50mph.  The cruise control did stop working, but the dealer repaired it under warranty....no other problems.
