my new van is coming with an alko 3004 hitch. someone told me i need a special tow ball, is this true. i already have my towbar fitted (witter0

Yes, the Alko 3004 requires a towball with extra clearance.

Hi Darren, You will need an alko type towball as the stabilizer needs more room to clamp over the head of the towball...standard towballs are too tight for comfort.....cost you around £15-£20 I'm afraid.

you new van should come with a towball to fit the alko 3004 coupling. If not you'll have to buy one, a standard towball is no good. The alko towballs are readily available

That's of course unless you have a swan neck type towbar on the car.  In  which case you don't need to do anything as it already has sufficient clearance.
