I've been on here a little while, but not posted much/anything.

So I thought for a bit of fun I'd start a thread where people can say what there latest Camping Purchase is as we head towards the 2024 Season.

Be it a Full Tent, Equipment Upgrade, or simply camping Consumables... Maybe your purchase will Inspire someone else!

Heres Mine...

-Vango Cuisine Kettle - To replace a Low Watt Electric Kettle as we have an induction hob which will be much quicker and more compact.
-Outwell Storage Box/Seat - for all the junk we need to hide away.

I got the wife one of those spike style tables for her wine whilst we sit about and I got myself an awning carpet (FANCY) for the front of the tent with the extension on it

I had to really think. I have all my gear.
The last thing I bought was a Trangia triangle, mess tins, inner pouch and hardshell case to make a motorcycle Cookset. The triangle had been out of stock for over a year. Oh yeah and an adapter to take a coffee pot for the trangia 27. That was over a year ago and wasn't a need, just a whim.

Not sure it qualifies as a 'purchase' so much as an acquisition!

Needed a Gazebo (the one we borrowed last year no longer available!) to act as a food shelter for this year's BBQ at our annual rescue dog charity camping weekend that I organise. After asking around friends and contacts without joy, put the Wanted post up on Freegle, quickly got a response from a lovely couple offering what I asked for.

Arrived to pick it up, and they apologised that it only had 2 sides, not the 3 or 4 that I'd asked for, not to worry, we can improvise I said.

Got it home, checked it was in functional order and all the poles and joints were there, and discovered ZERO, NO, ZILCH sides, just the canopy!

Back to the beginning! - still looking for a functional gazebo, or maybe just side panels. Life is a game of snakes and ladders, with the rug whipped out from under your feet occasionally just when you thought you were winning!

A new SIM. I had already taped the cracked plastic valve but tight closed with gorilla tape, then there was a split between the outer fabric and the bit round the valve. So it had to go. And I saw a good deal in a Sale so have upgraded from 7.5Cm to 10. I used to be quite happy with 2.5Cm. I know I will curse this decision when trying to cut everything in the car and again when rolling up the new SIM on a boiling morning…

Otherwise, last summer, a really cheap doormat from IKEA to put outside the tent. And a new low table from Decathlon because I liked the design. An orange retro melamine mug in a charity shop, two small plastic foldable crates in trendy colours to stack my plates and cups in on the new table.

Way too much stuff for someone determined to downsize my camping.

Haven't bought anything except consumables for a couple of years. The last purchases before that were an XL multifunction tarp from Decathlon and a Campingaz Party Grill 200 for use on sites when charcoal isn't allowed.

Not bought anything for this year - yet! Last year we invested in a 'new to us' Comanche Montana trailer tent to enable us to do more short trips as our other set up as a bit big! We had about 4 weekends away in 'Timmy' last year and already booked our first for this year. I love that we can literally just hook it up and go. Trailer up in 10 mins and we're getting faster with the awning with each trip. I love the little indoor living space we have without the awning and the two double beds make a wonderful super king bed.

A caravan. I'm getting old now so I need a easier life. Central heating, hot water on tap, super nice shower room with toilet and wash basin, nice comfy bed, nice kitchen with fridge/freezer with plenty of room for wine, built in music system, nice to arrive on site and all set up in half an hour then find the nearest pub. Done camping for years but as I said I need comfy now.

A Ridgemonkey sandwich toaster which came with utensils tucked inside... very compact and cute. A gift really but it's an acquisition! Works well on the hob here, so hoping it will be good for picnics and any solo camping trips I manaage. It comes apart so one can use one side as a pan if so desired. Oh, and two Decathlon inflatabale bed bases which are FAB. Roll on summer .

I love our Ridge Monkey, a great bit of kit. A few friends have those Decathlon inflatable beds, they're really good but just a bit too low to the ground for my knees

I bought myself a new tent today. I’ve been eyeing it up for ages and finally bit the bullet. Unfortunately it had gone up a little in price since the last I looked but I’m still very happy. It will hopefully give us the room we need and make life a bit easier when I’m camping with the 6 year old on my own. Now roll on the less inclement weather!

Ditto Shanty, made the transition a few years ago now, one of the wisest things I've done. Love camping and the whole shebang, EXCEPT fighting with tents in generally inclement weather, and the aches that tell me I'm a daft old s*d for doing it! Caravaning is glorious.

Still tent camp with friends occasionally, but the load is spread and it's a bit easier, but other's are questioning their ability to carry on as time takes it's toll on various 'old git' health aspects. I'd forgotten about it, but I did buy a new smaller tent in the end of last season sales for this years trip to France, as one of our 'old crocks' dropped out and a smaller tent seemed more suited to our needs and abilities.

I've just bought a Rainberg lightweight chair (£23.99 online) to replace my large unwieldy moon chair. It packs away into a very tidy little bag and will be durable enough for my occasional camping needs. The family dog will nick any moon chair left vacant on family camps, so maybe my old one can be his official chair in future!
