How do campsites set rates? We have a small camper , no EHU needed £25. Large car and tent no EHU £10. Tent/car takes up more space than our wee van. Just curious…,,

Your example MAY be because they have set pitches for campervans that automatically include electric, whether the customer requires/uses it or not?
More often than not, tent pitches with electric are priced similarly to campervans/caravans etc, but take away the need for electric, and those tents can be placed pretty much anywhere, often in a corner of a field, and often reducing the pitch price.
Shop around to compare prices to suit your own needs/budget, and don’t concern yourself overly so to what others with a different set up are paying.

Might also be the tent is on a grass pitch, the campervan is on a hardcore pitch (though £15 is a big difference).
And there have been many threads about whether the site fees are per person or per unit.
In short, many variables.

Rates are set based on running costs and local market.

It costs far far more to provide a serviced pitch for a motorhome (whether facilities used or not) than it does for a tent.

Some sites do differentiate between sizes of tents by insisting the larger ones can only go on larger, more expensive, pitches. I think campervans are seen as being the same as a motorhome or a caravan, which is fair as some caravans and motorhomes are not much bigger than a campervan(VW style)

This is a bug bear of mine. I have a Berlingo based Romahome. So not as big as some cars.
One site in North Devon which I use regularly only has unmarked grass pitches and no EHU. But they charge extra for an Drive Away Awning which is no bigger than a tent.
Car and tent priced £11 per person. Camper van same price per person but £5 extra for Awning. But is no different than a car and tent.
I'm not knocking the site, just don't understand the logic.

I agree.
One of our fave non-ACSI sites in France was modestly priced for a tent without EHU. When we changed to campervan, we were charged a 'forfeit' (package) rate which was quite a lot dearer. On closer investigation, I saw that as well as EHU it included waste disposal plus water intake, both legitimate charges, but as we had no toilet, we were paying about 7 euro a night for nothing. One time I persuaded the receptionist to charge us as a tent with EHU, but not since. We do still go there but only for 1 night now.

A small campervan probably has the least impact on the campsite grounds.
Certainly it can take up much less space than any other unit.
