Just to make sure you don't have a wasted journey, just ring the site and double check. If they know what they are doing, and what they are talking about, they will immediately tell you to ignore that bit, as it only applies to awnings on caravans etc. (That's happened to me about 3 or 4 times now, all without fuss, but with the reassurance to carry on as planned! Chances are, your call would get the same result.)
If they don't know what they are talking about, they may still insist you put a breathable groundsheet/footprint immediately under the SIG of your tent... which of course, is a complete waste of time, effort and money, as it will achieve nothing. If they "won't be told", simply go elsewhere... and explain to them just why you are doing so.
If we all did that, when the need arises, they'd soon get the message!

Carrying on from my last post...
I put a footprint groundsheet under my tent to protect my tent's SIG... no other reason.
If the footprint get's damaged/punctured, I'm happy to repair or replace it, as deemed appropriate. If my tent's SIG gets damaged/punctured, yes, I can still repair it... but I would be far from happy, considering what I've just spent on it!!
That protection also covers dirt... it's so much easier to bung a muddy footprint into a bin liner, take it home, and hose it down on my patio, at my leisure, at a time to suit me. What I want to avoid is throwing a 37kg expensive tent around on site, to clean the whole underside before bagging it up for the car!
... And besides, I wouldn't want to be turning that tent over on wet muddy grass, so I'd need a nice clean sheet to do it on!
I believe, rightly or wrongly, that ground sheets, of any nature, inside a caravan awning, are put there for one reason... comfort!
Fully agree, therefore, that these should be breathable, if you must have one at all.
Genuine question... Would a breathable ground sheet, in an awning, for example, protect the grass more than no groundsheet at all? As in, does it minimise the result of constant/regular foot traffic in the same area(s)? If so, I'd take back my previous "Comfort" comment, and add an apology. Genuinely interested in that
For the record, I have recently purchased a non-breathable ZIG for the awnings of my tent. In all honesty, I purchased it "Just in case", along with the purchase of the rest of my tent, as it would mean time, effort and cost to send my awnings back to Holland to have one made at a later date, hence my purchase now.
I genuinely don't think we'll use it (The awning ZIG), and it will prove a waste of money. Yes. we'll relax, cook, and eat in the awnings, but I'm expecting to treat this area as we did under our tarp... on grass!
I must admit, if I did ever feel the need to use it, I would again put a separate footprint under it, for protection. Now that, IMO, would be selfish of me, and I would readily hold my hands up to that!
...then almost certainly go out and buy a breathable groundsheet for the future... and sell my ZIG on T' Bay!
The more I read that, the more I'm confused as to why I actually bought the bloody awning ZIG in the first place!!
