Booking two plots - that really IS site-hogging, even though you're paying for it. Why should those with more money be allowed to take away availability of pitches on a camp site? In quiet season, fair enough. But at busy times, when sites are fully booked....

Just back from camping and saw 2 people occupying an 6 man tent!  What's the most outrageous site-hogging setup you've seen?  (I say this because those of us in normal sized tents are increasingly shoved into 'gaps')

QUOTE - "The Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT Tent is the extended vestibule version of the Nallo and has become the benchmark in 2 man tunnel tents. The Nallo 2 GT offers an exceptional space to weight ratio, and one of the most spacious living spaces of any compact trekking tent on the market."

How dare you talk about others "site-hogging" when you yourself have the bare-faced temerity to use a tent with an "extended vestibule" and "a spacious living space" (oxymoron...?).  I think you will now find that you have well and truly lost this argument and have thoroughly embarrassed yourself and your fellow backpackers who you claim to represent.  Kindly never darken this forum again with your hypocrisy.

(Now, do I need the 'cheeky wink' smiley just to explain the tone of my post......mmmmm???)

Hope he/she doesn't pitch that big thing next to a "normal" tent

Imagine how intimidating that would be

Looks a bit like a colourful coffin...not for the claustrophobic

I park my car next to my tent,  on my pitch.   I do not overshadow somebody in a backpacking tent with it, or use both cars to hem them in.
I like having my car next to my tent, as it provides a secure area for my valuables when I am somewhere like the shower block.    When we had a smaller tent we frequently used the car storage (and indeed still keep some stuff in the car.   Last year it was so wet it was necessary to use the car as a dry storage area.  We frequently park the second car in the carpark.

 Oh dear

Listen lets face it if I had money I would not be renting two plots I would rent the entire place (just kidding)

No matter how much cash I had I would still go camping because I enjoy it

I pay for two plots as not to impose on others . The two plot thing gives me my family and you’ room

I still take up as least space as possible So rather than sit on you guide ropes you too or any other temporary neighbour will benefit from what I would consider to be courteous and thoughtful behaviour

I don’t consider it taking the opportunity from anyone else in fact quite the opposite

regards

As for fag ends, I have a tin I put them in - butts on the floor appal me and I will often pick up any I find. As we all know, you leave a pitch as you found if not cleaner.

But do keep coming with the assumptions...we read every one...

Sorry to harp back a few pages but I have only just read them....Is it just me or does this post seem;

1) a rather pathetic post to use when you loosing an argument,
2) at best slightly insulting to all those people who have lost loved ones or have loved who are battling cancer!!!
I cant get my head around why anyone would want to wish this upon themselves. Also NOTHING in this life is a certainty so by predicting that you WILL get cancer does this make you more intuative and better at medicine than the doctors.... I'm sure they would love to have your forsight at diagnosing people.
Lets hope you never get cancer those of us who have seen loved ones die from it would surely never wish it on anyone...Also have you ever thought its no only yourself your inflicting your smell habit on?!?!?!?! (sorry to other who smoke.

Rant over...feel much better after that

You make assumptions that are entirely wrong. However I am pleased your rant of untruths made you feel better.

Quote: Originally posted by guitarkid on 27/7/2009 at smashing68, I have just taken the measurements of your tent that you use by yourself and the tent me, my wife and the 2 kids use and it turns out that on scale you hog more precious site space... tut tut you

I just guess people like me who use a 4 berth tent for 4 people are just a little more considerate than people like you using a 2 berth for just yourself....how very dare you :o :D

IT is a 2 berth tent and I use it for two people (plus gear which is where the extended porch comes in) - that was made very clear in the course of the thread. Where have I said I use it by myself?

How dare me indeed.
