If you would prefer to bypass me entirely, that's not a problem, but please, please do consider giving the police a ring if you think the details of your experience will help my situation at all. I'd be very grateful.

If you bought something from Gary which was advertised on the internet (this site?) but never received it, and if he gave you excuse after excuse and broken promises one after another (I don't know if this was the case with you, but it certainly is with me), then that might go some way to proving this is more of a calculated situation than simply the series of personal problems which he claims stop him from concluding his deal with me.

Even if you eventually got your money back, the circumstances might potentially help my case, don't you think?

If you won't go to the police, will you please, please post a bit more info? I'm clutching at straws, here, and worried he will sweet-talk his way out of this somehow. I'm stuck in this situation, you know?

The item I tried to purchase was not in an advert but in a post. He had made a front extension for his Norfolk Lake tent (you cannot buy one) and offered to make one for mine for £145. I sent him the money, it did not arrive, I cancelled and asked for my money back. After about six months of promises (he told me he had moved away from Eynsham as I offered to come and collect), no e-mail contact, I wasted a fortune on mobile calls and eventually got a cheque. Hetold me he had paid by BACS, he had sent several BS cheques, he had lost his business and was delivering in a van, could not get to a post office to post me a cheque, I had all the excuses. I guess I made it clear I would not give up.
