We have a Vango Eden which being polycotten is heavy. l blow the beams up to 9psi without any problems. We've had the tent for two years now and no issues with it. My opinion is that Outwell are followers rather than leaders in the airbeam market which is probably why they seem to have more problems as they're desperately trying to keep up. When Vango had issues a few years ago they offered customers upgraded airbeams as they accepted responsibility for it. I can't imagine Outwell doing the same. As for UV damage, surely that would take months if not years to weaken a tent to that extreme.

They did in my case, by upgrading the whole tent, so what you say, I think, is unfair.

Micky... can I say this is another reason why I by trainers from a sports shop, frozen peas from a supermarket, push bikes from a cycle store and camping kit from a camping store.
We all live and learn.
Also how old is the tent and did you buy it new. If you bought the tent within a year or so and the shop cannot fix it you are entitled to a refund. Good luck with that though.

I agree with Gary Cross and speak from experience dealing with Sports Direct. Like you I ended up emailing Mike Arsley as I now call him, after my son was totally ignored by customer service with regard to a faulty new tent before it was even used..Mike Arslery also never replied.
The company and the CEO are not interested in complaints, customer service is non existent.

I wouldn't buy a pair of socks from them now but even with regard to tents, they are by no means the cheapest for brand names.

Having watched SportsDirect completely destroy 2 of my favourite footwear brands - Karrimor and Lonsdale I have to say I would hesitate to buy anything important there again.

As I diabetic I have to keep my feet dry when walking. One brand new pair of 'weathershield' Karrimor walking shoes got my feet totally soaked on a 1 hour walk on tarmac, SD wouldnt do anything about it. 2 pairs of Lonsdale trainers let the water in straight away - through the sole, with the second pair also giving me a massive blister on my lower heel. Again SD didnt want to know

I have to agree, highslayer. Karrimor are a poor copy of what they once were. I have karrimor walking shoes for everyday wear. I wouldn't put them anywhere near a long walk.
If you are looking for decent value for money boots, I can recommend grisport. Just bedded in a new pair.

If only I had read this forum before buying my Outwell Tomcat !!!

I've had the same experience and thought I would share. I struggled inflating the tent with the hand pump so invested in the Outwell Squall electric pump with a digital pressure meter and automatic cut-off.

My wife has an aversion to camping brought on by an early experience of bad weather related tent collapse so... I chose to inflate our tent to the max ! (or at least the max as stated in the guidance from Outwell in the printed instructions AND their online pitching video)

Pitched in the cool of the evening so I'm sure you can guess what happened next day !

BOOM !!!

Luckily we weren't present whilst it happened but our camping neighbours took a gleeful approach when telling us what happened and informing us the entire campsite stood still/children crying etc

So I now have a Tomcat with two burst beams and a hole ripped in the roof of the tent from the explosion.

As I bought the tent second hand from an excellent eBayer there's not much else I can do.

The tent was/is excellent and I shall be getting it repaired but really I would expect better from Outwell and their customer service has been robotic and poor.

One day I shall be rich enough to buy brand new and can seek out another brand.

There are so many threads on this forum about air tents failing for whatever reason but centred around the air frames...……….

Also many about how bad are Sports Direct...many from me

I was one of the original posters on this forum re air tent problems with an Outwell Corvette. My previous posts explain the information we provided to Outwell re pressure/temp readings etc and we met with them to discuss. Outwell changed the design radically the following year. We have had that new design Outwell tent for 3 years now and only yesterday returned from a 4 week tour of France. We recorded temps of 52degrees in the tent. Anything that could melt did. The tent behaved impeccably. No issues with the beams at all. We never inflate above 5/6psi and do not touch the beams after the initial pitch. No need to constantly check pressure. Sorry to hear your problems though as your tent is your home and there is nothing worse as I remember well.
