I usually only book for 3 nights, then decide whether to stay longer or move on to another site.  This could be a problem though if you intend to go away during the school holiday period, when pitches are not so freely available.

I suppose its what you make it. Last year we went to the highlands for 5 days and the kids never complained once. We did have a good run of weather though. We went dolphin spotting one day, then a walk in pine forest deer spotting another. We spent a day on loch ness looking for nessy....easier to spot than the dolphins may i add. Then spent a day at the working fort.......that was all the day time taken care of and when we came back we would play cricket with the fellowcampers. The kids wern't long before they were cream crackered then we sat outside with a bottle of wine or two.

One night the owner built a campfire and about 10 of us sat round spinning yarns....people from austrailia,holland,london.scotland....how good does that get!!
