Camping quite a lot in scotland it can get a bit chilly in the evenings even in summer. So rather than wrap up like nanook of the north we use a convector heater running off the EHU.It also has a fan boost which we aim at the bedroom area just before bedtime and its all nice and toastie. If you pick an EHU pitch...why not use it.

We don't have EHU because we prefer the quieter sites where they just say over there in that field. Which is usually half full at best while the marked EHU pitches are stuffed.  I worry about how safe it is  when you see tents ,caravans, awnings. cars  and barbies all crammed in next to each other.  So we will stay as we are in the corner of the field and watch the bunnies come out to play at dusk.

Magicaly - sorry dont mean to hajac your thread but i bought one of these heaters and it stated for outdoors use only! Does that mean it cant be used in a closed in space? I was REALLY confused and its sat in my garage unused because i was worried about using it and gas issues in a small trailer tent (Solena)

They should be okay to use for a little while to take the chill off but no gas heater can be used safely for long periods in an enclosed environment. (apart from specially designed caravan heaters that are vented through the floor)

I have the black cat, an oil filled radiator and a fan heater

(we dont always take them all!)

the oil filled is my favourite as its silent and take the edge of the chill (along with dampness removal)

We have EHU and have used a B&Q fan heater in our tent last month as the evenings were still chilly.

I appreciate that others may disagree with camping and having what may be considered an unneccesary item but we have always found that if you are warm without the need to have layers of clothing on at night, then what you feel is right for you is the way you should go.

I have camped without EHU and heating and I can tell you which one i certainly prefer !!

Where or what is B&M?  I have been looking at the heaters described by Magicaly. ANyone got one? Any good?

We have one of these heaters,  bought it for an Easter trip a couple of years ago.  For the size of it, it does kick quite a bit of heat out, worth the money (although we paid about £40 at the time for ours).

We don't have EHU, kids would want TV, DVD etc, might as well stay at home.

Just having got back from our trip where it rained and howled day and night I am so glad we had EHU ,we were wet and cold just leaving the tent to go to the loo never mind anything else!! Our halogen heater made all the difference to our comfort and for drying our clothes and I didn't have the worry of gas running out ,oh yes I am in no doubt after this experience as to which one I prefer.
