 The talc theory is great, bit like the chalk/pummice/talc in a puncture repair kit anything like that should do.

No I wouldn't use UHU either for one thing it's WAY to stringy for me (horrible accident with a 00 scale model spitfire and its propeller with UHU would NEVER recommend UHU at all).

Try and do it the first day you put the tent up then go out for the day (I can recommend Seven Acres site at Frome just right for Longleat House and Park) should be nice and dry when you get back

if the seam sealant is applied to silver coated material there is a tendancy for the seam sealant to delaminate the silver coating, but please note this does not affect the performance of the sealant.
