Camping is the one area where it is okay to ask. As yet I have never needed to ask anyone probably because I look so helpless anyway They come running and it certainly gets the tent up a lot faster, and we all have a nice drink after-so sweet people are if we let them help.It goes without saying that I would help you or anyone else that I thought was struggling.Never be afraid of asking for help.Hope you have a good time-forget about the weather!!
I am sure most people would help someone who appears to be struggling, or if they were asked to help. I know we would and have done in the past without being asked. I am sure you will be ok, go and have a nice time.
We would help! In summer 04 i was 7 months pregnant and hubby was putting up our brand new coleman quadspace and wouldn't let me help, he was clueless and was nearly crying cos he couldn't do it lol. He did manage it after about 2 1/2 hours and not 1 person asked if he needed help. We always ask if people look like they are struggling and have blown many an air bed up too!
------------- Always Kate unless Jay is looking over my shoulder :) x
I would definitely help, even though I'm only slightly more use than a chocolate teapot! I could at least stand on/hold onto things whilst you did the athletic bits. I also do a great line in useless advice.
As I'm starting to get more decrepit I feel I shall be relying more and more on the generosity of my fellow campers to pitch my tent as it becomes more difficult for me. At least I'll be able to keep on camping though!
Me and him in doors would certainly help. We have been on the receiving end a few times, in the past. Last July in Oxford we had just got the fly sheet over and an almighty thunder storm started. A really nice man came to help us peg a few guys. I did feel quilty as he got drenched.
first time i put an awning up the people in the next van were laughing thier heads off at me and my two small girls then when i stood back to admire my work so did i, it was inside out with the cutains on the outside. no bad for a caravan fitter
I would also send hubby over if we thought anyone needed help.
But last July we got caught out. Just as we got our canvas on the frame a storm came from nowhere. We were struggling to hold on to our tent and were watching tents flying past us. Eventually things calmed down and we secured the tent but several people were watching us from the comfort of their caravans. Later that evening the man opposite said I was watching you earlier and I was convinced you were going to loose it!!
... i do the long drive to get near to the campsite,, and find a pub.. the wife drops me off there and then drives to the campsite with the two kids and then gets the neighbours to help put the tent up...
i arrive after a couple of pints.. tents up.. relaxed ! no falling out putting the tent up !!
