We had our 1st ever camping trip weekend gone, and as everyone knows the weather was abysmal!!! We had to put our tent up in the rain, the field was a bog, so was pretty hard going trying to get it up as we slid quite a bit. We had our 4yr old with us, so we left her in the car (next to us, we didnt abandon her, haha) and she was happy to shout instructions at us! We put our cagoules on, rolled up our jeans (bad idea in the rain, as advised before, better probably putting shorts on, as they would dry quicker) Thankfully we had practiced putting tent up in our garden so took us about 25 minutes to get it up, and you will find that everyone is so busy putting their own up that they wont pay any attention to what you are doing, if anything they will ask if you need a hand, most people seem to be really friendly and helpful. We have just booked our 2nd trip for next weekend, hopefully weather will be better! Good Luck, and remember, keep smiling and if you do get covered head to foot in mud like what we did, just laugh at yourself rather than letting it get to you. We still had a fab time regardless of the bad weather. As for taking the tent down, thankfully it was dry when we did, but tent was still wet and muddy, cleaned it as best as we could, and when we got home, put it on the lwashing line in garden to clean and dry.
